Make It Easy On Yourself... Use Mc Gaskets Pre-Cuts To Solve Your Alignment Problems They're Quick! They're Money Savers! Costly hand cutting is eliminated (one hand cut shim can cost four times more than a Pre-Cut shim.) You save inventory space by eliminating the need to carry a large selection of foil stock. Pre-Cuts or Alignment Shims can be reused because they're made of durable corrosion-resistant 304 stainless steel. Unused Pre-Cuts are simply replaced in the case -- ready for the next job. They're Accurate! The wide range of available shim thicknesses eliminates the need to stack shims, thereby providing a more stable alignment. Also available in metric sizes.
You also get a better alignment because with Pre-Cuts there are no burrs or square corners. Safer, too -- they virtually eliminate hand injuries due to burrs of "snip cuts."

No more searching or guessing -- the right size is permanently marked on each shim. All nominal sizes are accurately marked within a tolerance of ±.001.

Tips for Using Mc Gaskets Pre-Cut Shims
Use the minimal amount of Mc Gaskets pre-cut shims possible to obtain the desired thickness. This will make for a more stable alignment.
When using multiple Mc Gaskets pre-cut shims to obtain a desired thickness, if possible make a "shim sandwich" placing the thinner shims between two thicker shims. This will make positioning of the shims easier and prevent thinner shims from damage.
When reusing Mc Gaskets pre-cut shims be sure to wipe them off, removing any grease, dirt, etc. This prevents unwanted thickness from being added to your Mc Gaskets pre-cut shims, which would have a negative impact on obtaining a precise alignment.
Do not reuse Mc Gaskets pre-cut shims which are wrinkled, or that have been bent or bowed as to which true flatness of the shim can not be obtained.
Place some oil on new shims or shims that you are reinstalling. It will help make horizontal moves easier.
When installing and aligning machinery place .250" under each foot as a matter of practice.
Always raise machinery enough for easy shim insertion. Never drive shims under a foot with a hammer.

You won't get any sharp edges or burrs with Mc Gaskets tab shims. What you will get are pre-cut shims that save you both time and money.
